Chlorthalidone 50mg/tablet
- Chlorthalidone is a thiazide derivative (diuretic) with a very long duration of action. Chlorthalidone is characterized by continuous and uniform diuretic action, which leads to increased excretion of water and sodium chloride (salt) by the kidneys, limiting the active reabsorption of Na+, mainly in the proximal part of the distal renal tubule.
Indications:
- Edema and fluid retention: cardiac, hepatic, and renal causes; localized edema (post-thrombotic, post-traumatic, etc.)
- Arterial hypertension: as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents (e.g., beta-blockers, vasodilators, calcium antagonists, ACE inhibitors, reserpine)
- Any diabetes
Dosage:
Doses should always be labeled separately. It is recommended to take the medicine as a single dose in the morning with breakfast.
In prolonged treatments, the lowest dose that produces an optimal effect should be used, especially in elderly patients.
